Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints consist of water-soluble acrylic resins, making them ideal for brush painting or airbrushing. This particular paint works effectively on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and all common model plastics. It offers excellent coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. Before curing, paint can be removed with plain water.
For airbrushing, ensure to use Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya bottle paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing:
- The paint can be thinned for airbrushing using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- The paint can also be thinned for airbrushing with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner, resulting in faster drying and a harder finish.
- Finishing:
- Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) serve as a flattening agent for Tamiya Gloss bottle paints. Mix at a 1:1 ratio for optimal results.
- Flattering:
- For a smoother brushstroke-free finish, use Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114).
