Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints are produced using water-soluble acrylic resins, making them suitable for both brush painting and airbrushing techniques. They work effectively on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and most typical model plastics. This paint features good coverage, smooth flow, and excellent blendability. Before curing, it can be easily washed away with plain water.
When using an airbrush, it is important to choose Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya bottle paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing: The paint can be thinned using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner for optimal application.
- Finishing: Utilize Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) as a flattening agent when mixing with any X-gloss color. Recommended mixing ratio is 1:1.
- Thinner: For quicker drying times and tougher finishes, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner can be used. It also enhances airbrushing results.
- Flattening: For improved brush application, employ Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) to achieve a smoother finish without brush strokes.
