Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints consist of water-soluble acrylic resins, making them suitable for both brush painting and airbrushing. These paints can effectively be applied on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and all common modeling plastics. The paint offers excellent coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. Before curing, the paint can be washed off with water.
When using an airbrush, ensure to apply appropriate Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya bottle paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing:
- The paint can be thinned for airbrushing with Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.

- Finishing:
- Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) can be utilized as a flattening agent on Tamiya Gloss paints. Mix any X-gloss color with flat base at a 1:1 ratio.
