Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints consist of water-soluble acrylic resins, making them suitable for both brush painting and airbrushing. They can be applied to styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and all common model plastics. This paint not only covers effectively but also flows smoothly and allows easy blending. Before it cures, paint can easily be washed off with plain water.
While airbrushing, it is recommended to use any of the following Tamiya thinners:
- Airbrushing: Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner.
Tamiya paint label meanings and quick tips are as follows:
- Finishing: X appointed colors have a glossy finish while XF designated colors are flat finish.
- Thinner: The paint can be thinned using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner for airbrushing.
- Flattering: Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) can be utilized as a flattening agent on Tamiya Gloss bottle paints, mixed in a ratio of 1:1.
- Flattering: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner provides faster drying results and a harder finish.
- Finishing: For superior brushing results, utilize Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) for a smoother, brushstroke-free finish.
