Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints consist of water-soluble acrylic resins, making them ideal for both brush painting and airbrushing applications. These paints adhere well to styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and a variety of common model plastics. The paint's excellent coverage and smooth flow allow for easy blending, and it can be washed away with plain water prior to curing.
For airbrushing, ensure the use of any of the following Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing: The paint can be thinned for airbrushing using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- Finishing: Items 81521 and 81021 can be utilized as a flattening agent with Tamiya Gloss bottles. When mixed, use a ratio of 1:1 with any X-gloss color.
- Thinner: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner may also be used for thinning, offering quicker drying times and a tougher finish.
- Flattering: For enhanced brushing results, apply Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) to achieve a smoother, brushstroke-free finish.
