Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints are composed of water-soluble acrylic resins, making them highly effective for both brush painting and airbrushing. This paint can be applied on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and most common model plastics. It ensures excellent coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. If necessary, the paint can be washed away with plain water before curing.
While airbrushing, it's essential to utilize any of the Tamiya thinners:
- Thinner: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing: You can thin the paint using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- Finishing: Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) serve as flattening agents for Tamiya Gloss colors. Simply mix any X-gloss color with flat base in a 1:1 ratio.
- Thinner: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner can also be used for airbrushing, yielding a faster drying time and a more durable finish.
- Flattering: Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) can enhance brushwork, ensuring a smoother, stroke-free finish.
