Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints are formulated with water-soluble acrylic resins, making them excellent for brush painting or airbrushing applications. These paints can be applied to styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and typical model plastics. The paint provides good coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. Before it cures, the paint can be washed away using plain water.
For airbrushing, utilize any of the following Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, and 87077.
Tamiya bottle paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing: The paint can be thinned for airbrushing with Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- Finishing: Use Tamiya X-21 Flat Base (Items 81521 and 81021) as a flattening agent for Tamiya Gloss paints. Mix in a ratio of 1:1.
- Thinner: The paint can be thinned using Tamiya Lacquer Thinner for quicker drying times and a harder finish.
- Flattering: To achieve better brushing results, add Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) for a smoother, brushstroke-free finish.
