Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints are composed of water-soluble acrylic resins, making them ideal for both brush painting and airbrushing. This paint can be applied to styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and most common model plastics. It offers excellent coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. The paint can be easily washed away with plain water before it cures.
When using an airbrush, it is recommended to use one of the following Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya paint label indications and quick tips:
- Airbrushing:
- The paint can be thinned for airbrushing using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- For improved results, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner can be used, resulting in quicker drying times and a tougher finish.
- Finishing:
- Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) serve as a flattening agent for Tamiya Gloss bottles. Combine any X-gloss color with the flat base in a mixing ratio of 1:1.
- Thinner:
- Utilize the Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) for enhanced brush strokes and a smoother finish.
