Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints consist of water-soluble resins and are perfect for both brush painting and airbrushing. These paints can be applied on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and all common model plastics. The paint offers excellent coverage, flows smoothly, and allows for easy blending. It can be rinsed off with plain water before curing.
When utilizing an airbrush, it is essential to incorporate any of the subsequent Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya paint labels and quick tips include:
- Airbrushing: The paint can be thinned using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner for airbrushing.
- Finishing: Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) serve as flattening agents for Tamiya Gloss paints. Simply mix a gloss color with flat base using a 1:1 ratio.
- Thinner: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner can also be used for airbrushing, yielding quicker drying times and a harder finish.
- Flattering: For enhanced brushing results, Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) is recommended for a smoother finish.
