Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints are formulated from water-soluble acrylic resins, ideal for either brush painting or airbrushing. These paints can be applied on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and common model plastics. The coverage is efficient, with smooth flow and easy blending. Before curing, this paint can be removed with plain water.
When using an airbrush, it is essential to utilize one of the following Tamiya thinners:
- Thinner: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya bottle paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing: The paint can be thinned using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- Finishing: Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) can serve as a flattening agent for Tamiya Gloss bottle paints. For mixing, a 1:1 ratio is recommended.
- Thinner: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner can also be used for thinning and provides quicker drying and a harder finish.
- Flattering: For optimized brushing results, use Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) to achieve a smooth, brushstroke-free finish.
