Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints consist of water-soluble acrylic resins, perfect for brush painting or airbrushing. Suitable for styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and all common model plastics, this paint provides excellent coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. Uncured paint can be washed off simply with water.
For airbrushing, use any of the following Tamiya thinners:
- Airbrushing: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
- Finishing: Items 81521 and 81021 can be combined as a flattening agent on gloss paints. Mix at a 1:1 ratio.
- Thinner: Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner or Tamiya Lacquer Thinner for quicker drying and harder finish.
- Flattering: For smoother brushstrokes, use Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114).
