Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints are formulated with water-soluble acrylic resins, making them ideal for both brush painting and airbrushing. Compatible with styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and various plastics, this paint provides excellent coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. It can be wiped away with water before it cures.
When using an airbrush, utilize one of the Tamiya thinners:
- Airbrushing: Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- Finishing: Use Tamiya X-21 Flat Base for glossy paints, mixing with a ratio of 1:1 for a flat finish.
- Thinner: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner may also be used, providing faster drying and a tougher finish.
- Flattering: For improved results when brushing, mix in Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) to achieve a smoother finish.
