Historical Context
Tamiya's acrylic paints are formulated from water-soluble acrylic resins, making them ideal for brush painting or airbrushing. This product is suitable for use on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and other common model plastics. The paint is known for its great coverage, smooth flow, and ease of blending. Before it cures, the paint can be easily washed off with plain water.
When using an airbrush, ensure to utilize the following Tamiya thinners:
- Thinner: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya bottle paint label meanings and additional tips:
- Airbrushing: The paint can be thinned with Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner for airbrushing.
- Finishing: Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) can serve as a flattening agent on Tamiya Gloss paints. Simply combine any X-gloss color with the flat base in a 1:1 ratio.
- Thinner: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner can also be used for airbrushing, providing quicker drying times and a harder finish.
- Flattering: For improved brushing results, use Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) for a smoother, brushstroke-free finish.
