Historical Context
Tamiya acrylic paints are produced using water-soluble acrylic resins and are ideal for both brush painting and airbrushing. This paint can be applied on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, and various common model plastics. It provides excellent coverage, smooth flow, and easy blending. The paint can be easily washed away with plain water before it cures.
When using an airbrush, ensure to employ any of the following Tamiya thinners: Items-81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
Tamiya bottle paint label meanings and quick tips:
- Airbrushing: The paint can be thinned for airbrushing using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner.
- Finishing: Items 81521 and 81021 (Tamiya X-21 Flat Base) can serve as a flattening agent for Tamiya Gloss bottle paints by mixing any X-gloss color with the flat base at a 1:1 ratio.
- Thinner: Tamiya Lacquer Thinner accelerates drying time and creates a harder finish.
- Flattering: For optimal brush application, utilize Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) for a finer, stroke-free finish.
